Bauchi Assembly Passes Over N197 Billion As 2022 Budget

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has during its plenary on Friday passed into law the sum of (N197,475,607,143.85) as the 2022 budget estimates.

The plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Abubakar Y. Suleiman passed the budget which was immediately transmitted to the governor for assent.

Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation Hon. Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, Kirfi Constituency presented the report of the Committee which recommended that the total sum of one N197,475,607,143.85 is the 2022 budget appropriation for the state.

A stamen by Abdul Burra, the Speaker’s spokesman said the N85,057,580,518,58, representing 43% was for recurrent expenditure while the sum N112,418,026,625.27 representing 57% was for capital expenditure.

The Assembly commended the State governor Bala Mohammed and the Accountant General of the state for the timely presentation of the 2022 budget, the performance of the 2021 budget and the timely hosting of the 2021 budget performance on the official website of the office of the Accountant General.

“The Committee also recommended that the Honourable House should reemphasize and maintain its earlier resolution on a vote of no confidence passed on the Commissioner of Education upon his contemptuous behaviour before the House Committee on Education during the 2022 budget defence exercise.

“After the Honourable House adopted the recommendations of the Report, the Majority Leader of the House Hon. Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu (Azare/Madangala Constituency) moved a motion urging the Honourable House to pass the 2022 Appropriation Bill into law. He was seconded by the Minority Leader Hon. Bakoji Aliyu Bobbo (Chiroma Constituency”, the statement read in part.
