Donor Agency Donates Hypertension Drugs to Bauchi Govt

As part of the effort to strengthen the crusade against Hypertension, Population Service International Nigeria has donated drugs worth over N6,000,000 to Bauchi Primary Health Care Agency.
The anti-hypertensive drugs Were donated for onward administration to hypertensive patients in the state with support from Healthy Heart Africa and AstraZeneca.
Speaking, the Executive Chairman Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad said the state government has launched various initiatives geared toward subsidizing the most common diseases such as hypertension, Malaria and other killer diseases.
He added that available data have indicated a rise in hypertension cases in Nigeria with Bauchi state taking an imbalance proportion hence the need for all hands to be on deck to arrest its menace.
Represented by the deputy director, of Public Health at State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Umar Hassan Waziri commended the organization for timely intervention on the disease.
He added that the volunteers are expected to help in screening the public who attend their PHCs on Hypertension for early detection and management of the diseases.
On her part, Facility Assistant,  Population Services International Nigeria (PSI)  Fatima Sani Dauda explained that the organization is working with the stakeholders in areas of Healthcare interventions and the hypertensive drugs donated are under a special hypertension program sponsored by AstraZeneca.
Fatima Dauda stated that the program is currently going across all the intervention states in Nigeria and urged the volunteers to complement the effort to curtail Hypertension cases in Bauchi state.
