The Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency, BASEPA has planted 270 trees at Sam Njoma street in the state capital.
The planting is part of the activities of the agency in commemoration of this year’s International Forest Day.
The Director-General of BASEPA Dr Ibrahim Kabir while planting the trees said the exercise goes beyond planting the trees but that modalities and policies be put in place to ensure sustainability.
The Director-General said if each person is to plant a tree, nurture and nourish it to grow, it would go a long way in creating a healthy and safer environment.
He said 95 per cent of all environmental problems including desert encroachment, flooding and other catastrophes can be solved through tree planting.
