NAHCON Frowns Hajj Seats Cut For Nigeria

The Chairman of NAHCON Zikirullah Kunle Hassan has said that should Saudi authorities give go-ahead for foreign pilgrims’ participation in Hajj 2022 but reduced the country’s quota, allocation to various states will be based on their performance during Hajj 2019.

He said that if a state was allocated 5000 slots could only register 25% of that figure, it means that is the capacity they have and that is what may be allocated to them.

The NAHCON boss Alhaji stated this while responding to a question in an exclusive interview with newsmen in his office in Abuja.

On the possibility of Nigeria’s intending pilgrims participating in this year’s hajj, The Chairman said though there is no official statement as per Hajj 2022 he is very optimistic that Hajj 2022 will be held with foreign pilgrims and that Nigeria pilgrims will participate this year.

He noted that even though Covid 19 has impacted negatively on the entire world and we are all going through it, also NAHCON Will there be Hajj

Other things are still not yet clear to NAHCON but we are told they are working on all arrangements to conform with international best standards and be of no negative consequences where everybody is involved.

The NAHCON chairman also spoke about the ongoing efforts of the commission to be self-sustainable, as well as what they are doing to get help for the various private tour operators in the country who are hard hit by the covid-19 pandemic.
