A Bauchi based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Young Leaders Network, Thursday conducted a voters’ registration rally in Bauchi metropolis as part of its effort to enlighten citizens of the state on the electioneering processes.

The team leader of the organisation, Seun Onarinde told reporters in Bauchi that the rally contributed to increasing the number of citizens’ participation in voters’ registration and other electoral processes.

Onarinde said the exercise is being conducted in 8 local government areas of the state to ensure inclusive governance in order to get the desired results needed after an election for the benefit of all.

His words: “This rally, we called it ‘Bauchi Voters Storm’ to raise voters’ awareness with the intention of reducing apathy like what we experienced in 2019 general elections and the rally will assist us in seeing that all voters come out massively during the elections to vote by knowing all the processes of voting.

“We are collaborating with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for us to achieve the desired objectives on voter education and other electoral processes. At the end of this rally, we want to see a robust number of people who are coming to get their PVCs and as well during the forthcoming general elections to see massive turnout during the elections period.”

Onarinde called on all young people to key into the process of getting their voters cards to enable them participate fully in the elections and assured that Young Leaders Network in collaboration with other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) will continue to provide platforms for citizens to improve their participation in electoral processes.

Other partners who spoke described the rally as timely, saying that democracy is key to the survival of the country and pledged their support for the success of the exercise.
