The Plateau State Micro Finance Development Agency (PLASMIDA) has reiterated that its programs and interventions are available to all residents of the state, irrespective of their tribal or religious affiliations. The agency emphasized inclusivity in its efforts to foster economic empowerment and development.
Hon. Bomkam Ali Wuyep, Director General of PLASMIDA, made this known during a meeting with social media micro-influencers, organized under the Youth CARE project by Search for Common Ground. Represented by Barrister Samson Karami, a director in the agency, Wuyep affirmed that the agency’s support extends beyond indigenes of Plateau State. “Our interventions are for all residents, including those without religious affiliations. We recognize that peace is paramount, and we take any threats to it seriously,” he stated.
The DG emphasized the agency’s focus on creating opportunities for unemployed youths, stating that “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” He reiterated the agency’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to its resources to promote peace and economic stability in the state.
Earlier, Mrs. Munira Yarima Askira, Program Manager of Youth CARE, informed that the visit aimed to allow micro-influencers to engage with PLASMIDA, explore ways to enhance their social media content, and understand how the agency operates. She also presented a document outlining the Youth CARE project, a collaboration between Search for Common Ground and the Young Leaders Network.
Visit to Operation Rainbow Headquarters
In a related development, the Youth CARE project team also paid a visit to the Operation Rainbow Headquarters in Jos. The visit aimed to further strengthen collaboration between the influencers and state security agencies.
Brig. General Gakji Goshee Shipi (Rtd), special adviser on security to the Plateau State Governor and Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, called on the influencers to use their platforms to promote peace and tolerance. “Educate people about peace. If God wanted us all to be of the same religion or tribe, He would have made it so. We must embrace our differences,” Shipi said.
He commended the influencers for their efforts to positively engage with the youth and urged them to continue advocating for peace in their communities. He also noted that Operation Rainbow is an interfaith security initiative that relies on non-violent methods to maintain peace, turning to other measures only when necessary.
“We work closely with security agencies to ensure peace and security. Operation Rainbow remains committed to fostering an environment of tolerance and understanding,” Shipi added.
This collaboration between PLASMIDA, Operation Rainbow, and the Youth CARE project highlights ongoing efforts to promote peace and socio-economic development in Plateau State.
