The Chairman of the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Alhaji Abubakar Usman Madakin Bunun Bauchi, has commended the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for approving and implementing a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for civil servants in the state.
Speaking during the Commission’s 41st plenary session on December 3, 2024, held at its conference hall, Alhaji Abubakar hailed the state government’s move as a bold and timely decision. His remarks came as workers in Bauchi State began receiving salary alerts reflecting the new minimum wage.
The CSC Chairman noted that the policy would significantly enhance the welfare of civil servants and mitigate the impact of rising living costs. He further emphasized that this improvement would boost the morale of workers, ensuring better financial stability and fostering increased productivity in public service delivery.
Alhaji Abubakar urged civil servants to reciprocate the government’s gesture by rededicating themselves to their duties. He stressed the importance of their contributions toward achieving the vision of “My Bauchi Project,” a development initiative championed by Governor Bala Mohammed.
During the plenary session, the Commission approved the upgrading of 150 medical and para-medical personnel under the Ministry of Health, including medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and radiographers. Additionally, the formalization of four directors from the State Television Authority (BATV) and the Bauchi State Debt Management Agency (BASIDMA) was confirmed, covering key roles in commercial, engineering, finance/supply, and statistics.
The plenary session marked the first sitting of the Commission following its recess.
