The Association of Women Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN) has empowered over 100 young girls in Bauchi State through a training program on menstrual hygiene management.

The initiative, held in Bauchi, aimed at addressing the challenges faced by young girls during their menstrual periods. Speaking during the event, the Bauchi State Coordinator of ASWHAN, Mrs. Zuwairiyya Abubakar, stated that the program was designed to equip participants with essential knowledge for managing their menstrual health.

“We want to empower these young girls with the knowledge to manage themselves during their menstrual period,” she said. “This training is a timely intervention, as many of these girls face significant challenges during this time.”

As part of the program, ASWHAN also distributed menstrual pads to the participants, providing them with the necessary materials to maintain proper hygiene.

Several beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the initiative, describing it as impactful and life-changing. One of the participants noted, “We are grateful for this training. We have learned so much about managing our menstrual health, and we are excited to share this knowledge with our friends and relatives.”

The successful training and distribution of menstrual pads underscore ASWHAN’s commitment to improving menstrual hygiene education and enhancing the health and well-being of young girls in Bauchi State.
