The First Lady of Bauchi State, Her Excellency Hajiya (Dr) Aisha Bala Mohammed, has been conferred with the prestigious Peace Ambassador Honorary Award at a ceremony held in Abuja.
The event, organized by the Peace Ambassador Advocacy Network in collaboration with the 1000 Peace Ambassadors of Nigeria, was part of the One Future Benue Fulani Youth Peace and Prosperity Camp, tagged “Bringing Light to Benue State.”
The award also comes with her appointment into the organization’s Executive Advisory Council. It was presented during a ceremony themed “Nigeria First: Grassroots Solution for National Growth.”
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed described the recognition as more than an award, noting that it is a call to service and a reminder that peacebuilding remains the greatest gift Nigerians can give their country.
“With a heart filled with humility and gratitude, I stand before you today to accept this Peace Ambassador Honorary Award—the first of its kind, which also entrusts me with the Executive Advisory Council role in this noble organization. This is not just an award; it is a call to service,” she said.
The Bauchi First Lady reflected on her personal journey, recalling how she only began her educational pursuit at the age of 21 after giving birth to her third child. She attributed her success to the unwavering support of her husband, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, whom she thanked for granting her “the priceless gift of education.”
Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed also highlighted her work through the Office of the First Lady of Bauchi State and the Al-Muhibbah Foundation, stressing that grassroots empowerment brings dignity, hope, and a better future for Nigerians.
“Peace is not built in the offices of the high and mighty alone; it is built in our villages, schools, markets, and communities where ordinary Nigerians live their daily lives,” she emphasized.
She dedicated the award to Nigerian women still yearning for opportunities, youths aspiring for a brighter tomorrow, and all citizens committed to peace and unity.
“This award is not about me alone—it is about all of us, and it is about the Nigeria we want to build,” she said, pledging to continue working for peace, unity, and development.
The First Lady commended the organizers for recognizing her efforts and reaffirmed her commitment to promoting peace and grassroots development.
She concluded with a message of hope: “Let us remember always that when we put Nigeria First, when we strengthen our grassroots, when we invest in peace, then our national growth will be unstoppable.”
