The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected hard drug dealer, Mr. Ogbu Simon, and recovered a large quantity of narcotic substances during an operation in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest followed credible intelligence received on 26 November 2025 at about 8:00 p.m., indicating that suspicious sacks were being offloaded at a shop belonging to the suspect, who is believed to supply narcotic drugs from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi and neighbouring communities.
Acting on the information, detectives from the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, stormed the premises and recovered four bags containing suspected Tramadol and Diazepam (D5), popularly known as Yellow Voice.
Following directives from the Commissioner of Police, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet probe, while the Operation Restore Peace (ORP) unit was tasked with locating and arresting the suspect.
A team led by CSP Abdulrazak Fada later apprehended Mr. Simon, who reportedly confessed to distributing narcotics to markets within and outside Ningi.
Items recovered from the suspect include:
17,500 sachets of suspected Tramadol tablets
487 packs of suspected Diazepam (D5) tablets
The recovered drugs are valued at an estimated ₦12.2 million.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to intensifying the fight against drug-related offences. He called on residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with actionable information.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspect and the recovered exhibits will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
