Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved full scholarships up to tertiary level for three outstanding students who brought global honour to Nigeria, clinching top prizes in international academic and talent competitions.

In a bold show of support for excellence, the governor also announced a cash reward of N10 million each for the young champions.

The beneficiaries are Nafisa Abdullahi, World Champion in Basic English Skills; Rukaiya Mohammed, Female World Champion in Debates; and Hadiza Kashim Kalli, winner of the World Champion Outstanding Talent Award.

Also, their victories, achieved against competitors from across the world, have placed Yobe State firmly on the global map of academic and creative excellence.

Governor Buni who announced the gifts on Thursday in Damaturu hailed the trio as shining examples of what determination, discipline, and quality education can produce, describing their achievements as a source of pride not only to Yobe State but to Nigeria as a whole.

He said their success reflects the resilience and brilliance of young Nigerians when given the right support and opportunities.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to education, noting that investment in human capital remains a cornerstone of his government’s development agenda.

According to him, rewarding excellence is a deliberate strategy to motivate other students across the state to aim higher and believe that hard work is always recognized.
