Residents of Bauchi State have continued to benefit from a free medical outreach organised by the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in collaboration with the Bauchi State Government, as large numbers of people turned out to access medical services.
On the second day of the exercise, scores of male and female patients were seen queuing patiently to undergo medical examinations and receive treatment at no cost. The outreach attracted residents from different parts of the state, many of whom expressed satisfaction with the quality of care provided.
One of the beneficiaries, Malama Aisha, said she was examined by a medical doctor and given drugs free of charge. She expressed gratitude to the organisers, noting that she did not pay a single naira for the services rendered.
Another beneficiary, Salamatu Amos, who complained of stomach, chest and headache pains, said she received prompt medical attention. According to her, she was examined by a doctor, provided with free medication and counselled on how to better manage her health.
The beneficiaries collectively commended the Bauchi State Government for supporting the initiative, describing it as a clear demonstration of concern for the welfare of the less privileged in society.
Speaking while declaring the outreach open on Saturday, the State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, said the programme was designed to provide free medical care to no fewer than 5,000 people over a three-day period. She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving access to healthcare, particularly for vulnerable residents across the state.
