The Bauchi State chapter of the APC Youth Forum has expressed concern over what it described as growing internal tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s governorship primaries in the state.
Speaking during a press conference chaired by Comrade Saleh Musa Waziri, the group said the increasing disconnect between party leadership and grassroots supporters could negatively affect the party’s chances in future elections if urgent steps are not taken.

The forum stated that consultations conducted across wards and local government areas revealed dissatisfaction among party loyalists, especially youths, over the direction of the party in Bauchi State.
According to the group, political decisions within the party must reflect the aspirations of grassroots supporters to avoid loss of trust and weakening of party unity.
The APC Youth Forum said a growing number of stakeholders, including youths, professionals, community leaders and politically conscious citizens, have continued to identify Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti as a leader capable of repositioning the party and strengthening its electoral prospects.
The forum described Bala Wunti as a technocrat with strong professional experience gained through his service at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), noting that his leadership qualities are rooted in competence, discipline and service delivery.
It added that Wunti’s interventions through the Wunti Alkhair Foundation in areas such as education, healthcare, empowerment and community support have further increased his popularity among ordinary citizens, particularly young people.
The group also highlighted initiatives such as “Conversation with Bala Wunti,” which it said created opportunities for youths to engage in discussions on governance, leadership, innovation, education and unemployment.
According to the forum, Bala Wunti’s approach to youth engagement and inclusive leadership distinguishes him from many political actors within the state.
The APC Youth Forum warned that presenting a candidate who lacks acceptance among critical groups such as youths, professionals and undecided voters could weaken the party’s mobilization strength and reduce its electoral chances.
The group therefore called on party leaders and stakeholders to reflect carefully on the choice of candidate that would promote unity, broaden support and enhance the party’s competitiveness in the 2027 governorship election.
The forum reaffirmed its commitment to the unity and success of the APC in Bauchi State, while maintaining that leadership based on competence, inclusion and vision remains the best path for the party’s future.
