The Bauchi State Government has completed the reconstruction of the historic residence of Tatari Ali in Zaki Local Government Area and formally handed over the facility to the Zaki Local Government Council for proper maintenance and management.
The restored complex comprises Tatari Aliâs tomb, a museum housing historical artefacts, a mosque, two fully furnished residential apartments, boysâ quarters, and two 90-capacity classrooms designated for Islamic education.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the State Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, who represented Governor Bala Mohammed, said the project underscores the present administrationâs commitment to preserving cultural heritage while promoting educational and community development.
Kawule noted that the reconstruction of the historic site would not only safeguard the legacy of Tatari Ali but also serve as a centre for learning and tourism within the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Zaki Local Government Council, Hon. Adamu Yakubu Sakwa, assured that the council would employ permanent staff to oversee the maintenance and effective management of the facility. He expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for what he described as a bold step towards preserving the stateâs historical heritage.
Also speaking on behalf of the family, a former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Mutari Sulaiman, commended the governor for restoring the ancestral home, describing the project as a lasting tribute that honours Tatari Aliâs enduring legacy.
