Bauchi Governor Confirms Marcus Yake as First-Class Ngum Zaar, Elevates Zaar Chiefdom

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved the elevation of the Zaar Chiefdom in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area to First-Class status and confirmed Retired Brigadier General Marcus Kokko Yake as the new Ngum Zaar.

The confirmation was officially conveyed through a letter of appointment presented to the new monarch by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, during a brief ceremony held in Tafawa Balewa.

While presenting the letter, Alhaji Hammayo charged the Ngum Zaar to uphold the laws of the land and adhere strictly to directives from the state government. He also urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him by fostering peace, unity, and development among his people.

Congratulating the traditional ruler, the SSG described the elevation as a reflection of the governor’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and promoting harmony across the state.

In his acceptance remarks, the newly confirmed Ngum Zaar, Brigadier General Marcus Kokko Yake (Rtd), expressed deep appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for the honor. He pledged to provide purposeful leadership and ensure continued peace and progress within the Zaar Chiefdom.

The monarch also appealed for the cooperation and support of all stakeholders in order to consolidate the gains of the new status and advance the collective interest of his people.
