Bauchi State Indigenes in Abuja Advocate Unity for Development at 10th Annual General Congress and Awards Ceremony

A gathering of Bauchi State Indigenes under the aegis of the Association of Bauchi State indigenes in Abuja (ABASI) at its 10th Annual General Congress, Public Lecture and Awards themed “Unity for Development” has called for unity in the state which is a catalyst for development. The event has pledged the Association’s commitment to join hands with the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi, to ensure that unity, peace, progress, and harmony continue to prevail throughout the state.

They posited that with unity and peaceful coexistence, growth and development would be the antidote for destructive dichotomy and ineffective management of the scarce resources in the state.

The Association, ABASI, which celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a Public Lecture and Awards, witnessed huge attendance by senior citizens, former governors, and the youths from Bauchi State resident in Abuja.

A former Ambassador and top public servant, Ambassador Jibrin Dada Chinade, (Wakilin Katagum) who presided over the one-day event paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers of Bauchi State who had contributed immensely to the creation of the state in 1976.

He called on all the people of the state to eliminate all forms of dichotomy and work for peace and development.

Speakers who included former governors Ahmad Adamu Mu’azu, Mallam Isah Yuguda, Dr. Ahmed Shehu (Ðan Amanan Bauchi) who represented the Emir of Bauchi, Alh. Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu OFR expressed their happiness that Bauchi State indigenes are coming together to discuss areas of cooperation that would ensure effective and efficient governance devoid of any rancor necessary for the state to move forward.

The Guest Speaker, Prof. Ashom Musa Maisamari of the University of Abuja spoke at length on the benefits of unity, peace, and harmony to inject progress and development in the society. He called for good governance through the installation of popular policy that would promote peaceful coexistence to engender growth in the social, economic, and political spheres. A one-time SGF and Head of Service who also served as Minister of Defence, Alh. Mahnud Yayale Ahmed (Ajiyan Katagum), in his speech recalled the struggles to build a harmonious State of Bauchi by eminent personalities whose vision was to ensure the people benefit from the newly created state and today alot of work was required to ensure that it is achieved. He added, ” need to continue to leave in peace so that the leadership would create an enabling environment for harmony, progress will bring in the required development in a united Bauchi State .

Earlier, the long-serving chairman of the Association, Alh. Salisu Bello, the Makama Babba of Dass, expressed a deep sense of gratitude to the founding fathers and called for cooperation and support to ensure that the mandates of the Association are realized.

In a vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman, who was a founding Member, Alh. Ahmad Garba Aminu thanked all those who supported their vision and contributed to the success recorded. He expressed the gratitude of the association to the current governor, Karan Bauchi, Alh Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who made tremendous contributions to theABASI, especially when he was the FCT Minister.

At the end of the event, it was resolved that recommendations would be made to the Government for implementation as part of its continuous contribution towards the development of the state.

Highlights of the occasion were the presentation of Merit Awards and Certificates of Achievement to deserving personalities from Bauchi State, including the former SGF, Head of Service and Minister, Alh. Mahnud Yayale Ahmed and Governors Adamu Mu’azu, Mallam Issah Yuguda, and Sen. Bala Muhammad, Arc. Audu Sule Katagum (Wazirin Katagum, Dr. kasimuGidado (WazirinJama’are), members of the National Assambly, among others.
