By Muhammad Sani Muazu

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki, has applauded the successful rehabilitation of the Small Package Plant in Bauchi, describing it as a major step toward improving access to clean water in the state.

Hon. Zaki gave the commendation during the commissioning of the rehabilitated facility, which was approved by the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON, fnipr, Kauran Daular Usmaniyya).

The Commissioner lauded the Acting Managing Director of the Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSUWSC), Hajiya Uwani Garba Dagauda, and her management team for the quality and timely completion of the project. He emphasized that such interventions are crucial to addressing the state’s water supply challenges.

In her remarks, the Acting Managing Director, Hajiya Uwani Garba Dagauda, expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for his continued support and for providing an enabling environment for the successful upgrade of the plant. She also appreciated residents of the affected communities for their patience and cooperation during the rehabilitation process.

According to her, production has already commenced, and water is now being supplied to several communities including Gida Dubu Housing Estate, ATBU Senior Staff Quarters, Kari Estate, Rafin Makaranta, Magaji Quarters, and the Nigerian Army School of Armour — significantly improving access to potable water.

The Commissioner also inspected the Barkumbo Water Scheme, where he commended the Acting Managing Director for promptly repairing a faulty transformer that had hindered operations at the facility.

Hon. Zaki further appreciated the corporation’s staff, particularly the Director of Operations and Maintenance, Engineer Abdulmumini Mai Lafiya, and his team, for their commitment and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustaining investments in water infrastructure to ensure reliable and safe water supply to residents across Bauchi State.
