The Acemedix Women’s Foundation, a Non- Governmental Organization dedicated to providing medical support and assistance to vulnerable women, successfully held the second edition of its flagship maternal health initiative themed: Healthy Women, Healthy Future 2.0, with a powerful two-part outreach that impacted over 550 women in the FCT.
On August 2, 2025, the Foundation’s team of dedicated volunteers visited Zamani Village along Airport Road, Abuja, for a Community Health Outreach. Women of childbearing age, expectant mothers, and nursing mothers received free counseling on maternal health, with a strong focus on the dangers and risk factors of maternal mortality in Nigeria.
Participants also benefited from free medical screenings, including HIV, malaria, blood sugar, blood pressure, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C tests. At the end of the program, each woman received a free health pack containing medicated soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and tissues. Over 250 women were reached during the Zamani outreach.
Continuing the mission, on August 8, 2025, the Foundation took the message to Gosa Market for a Market Sensitization Program. Volunteers moved from shop to shop, engaging women in conversations about maternal wellbeing, answering questions, and creating awareness on how to prevent maternal deaths. More than 300 women benefited from this exercise and received free health packs.
Speaking after the events, Dr. Nnadozie Livinus Abugu, the Foundation’s team lead, expressed gratitude to its passionate volunteers, emphasizing that the fight against maternal mortality requires consistent community engagement.
