Gwaram Community Commends Bauchi Govt Over Flood, Erosion Control Projects

By Muawiya Ibrahim

The Gwaram community in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State has commended the state government for executing flood and erosion control projects in the area.

A delegation from the community, led by the Deputy Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Council, Abbas Ibrahim, paid a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, to express their appreciation for the intervention.

Ibrahim described the projects—which include the construction of several hundred metres of rip-rap erosion control barriers—as highly impactful. He noted that despite years of lobbying, previous administrations were unable to initiate or complete such projects in the community.

He applauded Governor Bala Mohammed and Commissioner Kawule for their commitment to improving the welfare of rural communities.

Also speaking, the Village Head of Gwaram, Salihu Bello, expressed delight over the project, stating that it had brought relief to the community. He appealed to the Commissioner to push for the completion of an abandoned road project linking several communities, which he said would improve transportation and boost economic activities in the area.

The delegation, comprising religious leaders, youth representatives, and other community stakeholders, was assured by Commissioner Kawule that the ministry would continue to work in the interest of Bauchi residents.

He pledged to forward their request to the appropriate authorities for consideration.

The visit reflects the ongoing collaboration between government and communities in addressing developmental challenges and improving living standards across the state.
