The Nigeria Women Rights and Empowerment Network (NIWOREN) has pledged to empower women in Kundum village, Bauchi Local Government Area, through skills acquisition and awareness campaigns on gender equality.
Executive Director of NIWOREN, Miss Adah Samuel, made this known during an inspection visit to the community ahead of the project’s implementation. She explained that the initiative seeks to strengthen women’s capacity in decision-making and improve their socio-economic wellbeing.
Miss Samuel stressed the importance of gender equality, noting that women deserve equal opportunities for building a brighter and inclusive society. She expressed optimism that the project would enhance the capabilities of women in Kundum.

Earlier, while addressing community leaders, Mrs. Precious Ojonya, a representative of NIWOREN, highlighted the organization’s focus on women’s rights, gender-based violence response and prevention, economic empowerment, health, and education. She disclosed that the project is being carried out in partnership with the Development Exchange Centre (DEC), Bauchi, with funding support from Bread for the World.
Mrs. Ojonya urged the community to provide a conducive environment that would enable the successful training and empowerment of rural women.
In his remarks, the Ward Head of Kundum village, Mallam Nuhu Idris, assured the NIWOREN team of his full support towards achieving the project’s objectives. He called on residents, particularly women beneficiaries, to embrace the initiative and pray for its success.
