The Director‑General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa‑Onilu, has called on Nigerians to unite against insecurity through patriotism and collective responsibility in 2026
According to his new year message, while the government intensifies security operations, lasting peace requires active citizen involvement and cooperation at all levels.
Issa‑Onilu emphasized that insecurity thrives when people feel disconnected from national affairs, urging Nigerians to engage and reject ethnic, religious, or regional divisions.
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm stance against insecurity, highlighting a recent U.S.–Nigeria joint airstrike on terrorist enclaves as proof of decisive leadership.
He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society, and youth groups to promote tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and respect for the rule of law.
Issa‑Onilu noted that restoring faith in the Nigerian project demands a revival of national values, not just government action, and requires sustained civic engagement.
The message underscores the need for both governmental and grassroots efforts to secure the nation and build a cohesive future.
