The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has raised fresh concerns over the worsening state of insecurity in the country, calling on the Federal Government to take urgent and decisive action to protect lives and restore peace across Nigeria.
The call was made on Sunday during the conclusion of a three-day national fasting and prayer programme held at Living Faith Church, Yelwa Tudu, Bauchi.

The address of the National President of the PFN, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, was delivered by the Bauchi State Chairman of PFN, Reverend Promise Yohanna, before a gathering of Christian faithful, ministers of the gospel and members of the public.
Speaking during the event, the PFN lamented what it described as the alarming collapse of the nationâs value for human life, noting that banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and senseless killings have reached unbearable proportions across the country. The fellowship said Nigerians can no longer continue to live in fear while innocent citizens are being slaughtered daily.
The Christian body expressed deep pain over the continued captivity of some of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls as well as Leah Sharibu, who remains in captivity for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. PFN also recalled the killing of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto, stressing that justice has not been adequately served in many of such tragic incidents.
According to the address, several states including Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Southern Kaduna, Kwara, Oyo, Borno, Niger and Sokoto have become recurring theatres of violence and bloodshed, with communities displaced and many families thrown into mourning. PFN decried the increasing attacks on schools, communities and farmers, warning that the situation poses a serious threat to national unity and development.
The fellowship further accused political leaders of paying more attention to election victories while insecurity continues to consume lives and property. It maintained that the inability of authorities to decisively crush criminal elements has emboldened terrorists and bandits across different parts of the country.
PFN also lamented what it termed the infiltration and compromise of the nationâs security architecture, alleging that gallant military officers and soldiers are being killed due to sabotage within the system. The fellowship warned that the persistent insecurity is discouraging investors, forcing skilled Nigerians to flee abroad and weakening citizensâ confidence in government.
Despite its strong criticism, the PFN commended the Bauchi State Government for what it described as proactive efforts in addressing insecurity within the state. The fellowship acknowledged the commitment of the government and security agencies in sustaining relative peace and ensuring prompt responses to security concerns in Bauchi.
The Christian body disclosed that the National Executive Council of PFN had met on May 19, 2026, where members resolved to embark on spiritual warfare through fasting and prayers for divine intervention in Nigeriaâs affairs. It said the programme was aimed at seeking Godâs mercy, healing and restoration for the nation.
PFN called on the Federal Government to fulfill its constitutional responsibility of protecting every Nigerian irrespective of tribe or religion. It also urged authorities to seek international collaboration and support where necessary in order to effectively combat terrorism and violent crimes before the situation deteriorates further.
The fellowship equally charged the church in Nigeria to remain united, steadfast in prayer and vocal against evil. It encouraged Christians not to remain silent in the face of bloodshed and persecution, emphasizing that unity among believers would strengthen the collective voice against injustice and insecurity.
While concluding the address, the PFN expressed hope that God would intervene in Nigeriaâs challenges, rescue captives, heal the land and restore peace to the country. The fellowship maintained that silence only empowers killers and their sponsors, insisting that the blood of innocent Nigerians demands urgent and effective action from leaders at all levels.
