The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers allegedly responsible for a series of housebreaking and robbery incidents within Bauchi metropolis.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspects, identified as 19-year-old Abdulmalik Ismail of Karofin Madaki area and 20-year-old Abubakar Saleh of Doya area, were apprehended by operatives attached to the C’ Division Police Headquarters, Bauchi. Their arrest followed a complaint lodged on October 22, 2025, by one Na’ima Saleh, a 30-year-old resident of Nursing Quarters, Muda Lawal area of Bauchi.
According to the police, the complainant reported that at about 11:00 a.m. on the said date, one of the suspects, Abdulmalik Ismail, trespassed into her residence by scaling the fence, proceeded to the kitchen armed with a knife, and attempted to rob her. She raised an alarm which attracted the attention of neighbours who pursued and apprehended the suspect at the scene before handing him over to the police.
Upon a search, the police recovered a Redmi mobile phone in his possession, which was later discovered to have been stolen from another victim, Sadiyya Kabir, also aged 30, of Bauchi metropolis. Investigation revealed that the same suspect had earlier invaded Sadiyya’s residence on October 16, 2024, armed with a knife, and carted away her mobile phone along with its purchase receipt and pack.
During interrogation, Abdulmalik confessed to committing the crime and mentioned his accomplice, Abubakar Saleh, who was subsequently arrested and also confessed to participating in the robbery operations. Further investigations led to the recovery of a Jincheng motorcycle and two knives from the suspects, in addition to the stolen mobile phone.
The police said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the vigilance and swift action of the public, which led to the arrest of the suspects. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across Bauchi State, assuring residents that the police will continue to intensify efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
He also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding, be security-conscious, and continue to provide credible information that would assist the police in ensuring the safety of lives and property within the state.
