By Zainab Kassim Ibrahim

The Bauchi State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area and rescued two victims without harm.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement on Wednesday, said the incident occurred on September 28, 2025, at Maso Kano village in Jada Pali district.

According to him, suspected kidnappers armed with AK-47 rifles abducted 50-year-old Hambali Alhaji Sa’adu and 35-year-old Jari Alhaji Sa’adu. However, a combined team of police operatives and local hunters swiftly responded to a distress call and engaged the suspects in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee.

The statement added that between September 29 and 30, police operatives arrested three suspects linked to kidnapping activities in Alkaleri and Kirfi local government areas. The suspects are identified as 28-year-old Adamu Ahmadu, 18-year-old Bello Alhaji Musa, and 29-year-old Adamu Alhaji Musa, all from Shalhori village near Kirfi.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to conspiring with three others, still at large, to carry out the crime for ransom.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers and hunters for their bravery and professionalism. He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
