The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has been honoured during a special Ramadan lecture and prayer session held in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.
The event brought together Islamic scholars, community leaders, women groups and youths who reflected on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan and the need to promote unity, compassion and mutual respect in society.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of Ningi Local Government Area, Nasiru Zakarai, described the Speaker as a leader whose political relevance and influence have continued to bring pride and development to the people of the area.
Zakarai said Rt. Hon. Suleiman remained a unifying figure whose leadership style reflects humility, accessibility and commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
He added that the Speaker’s role in the political landscape of Bauchi State has strengthened democratic governance while also giving the people of Ningi a strong voice in decision-making processes within the state.
According to him, the consistent support and representation provided by the Speaker have further strengthened public confidence in leadership and governance.

As part of activities marking the occasion, assorted food items and cash were distributed to participants and other members of the community to support them during the holy month of Ramadan.
The items distributed included bags of rice, spaghetti, cooking oil, maize, crates of eggs and cash assistance aimed at easing the burden on families and encouraging acts of generosity among residents.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, expressed appreciation to guests and participants for honouring the invitation despite their busy schedules.
He also commended the Islamic scholars who delivered lectures during the programme for enlightening the audience on the virtues of patience, kindness and responsibility towards one another, which he described as key principles of the Islamic faith.
Delivering a vote of thanks, Hajiya Abi Hafsat Ays urged members of the community to reflect on how they treat one another in their daily interactions.
She noted that Islam teaches believers to uphold justice, compassion and sincerity in their relationships with others, irrespective of social status or personal connections.
Hajiya Hafsat also called on women and families to promote peace, understanding and good character, noting that such values are essential for building a morally upright and harmonious society.
The event ended with special prayers for peace, unity and continued development in Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State and the country at large.
