“Renewed Hope Initiative: First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu Launches Elderly Support Scheme, Bringing Better Days Ahead for 250 Vulnerable Citizens”

About two hundred and fifty vulnerable elderly citizens aged 65 and above in all the 36 states of the federation and the FCT are to benefit from Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme with the theme: Better Days Ahead.

The first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria stated this while commissioning the distribution exercise in Bauchi.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu noted that the economic empowerment programme is borne out of a steadfast commitment to the well-being of elderly citizens and it marks a significant stride in a collective pursuit of a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Other beneficiaries of the scheme according to the First Lady are veterans from the defence and Police Officer’s Wives Association.

Represented by the Bauchi state first lady Hajiya Aishatu Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, Mrs Tinubu said all the selected beneficiaries will receive one hundred thousand naira each to cushion the effect of the economic situation and to alleviate the burden of elders during this festive period.

Oluremi Tinubu indicated that the total sum to be disbursed is nine hundred and fifty million Naira (950,000,000) as approved by the governing board of the Renewed Hope Initiative, pointing out that each state of the federation will receive the sum of twenty five million Naira (N25,000,000) and assured that each state will receive the gesture without any discrimination.

She added that the gesture is not only to honour the contributions of the elderly, but to also acknowledge the unique encounter they face, urging them to embrace life to the fullest and prioritize their health so as to enjoy a fulfilling life in their golden years.

“This period should be a time of joy and comfort for all, even as we hope for a greater Nigeria, in security, education, health, employment and business opportunities for all, we seek for your continued support and prayers for the administration of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu as we look for better days ahead.” Oluremi Tinubu said.

Some of the beneficiaries interviewed by Albarka Radio appreciated the federal government for the support rendered to the elderly citizens, and promised to make judicious use of the cash, Rice and medicines given to them.
