The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, has reiterated the commitment of the legislative arm to enact laws aimed at addressing the challenges of out-of-school children in the state.

Suleiman made this pledge during the launch of educational materials by the Nabalango Foundation, an initiative to empower 1,000 students in Ningi Local Government Area as part of the 2025 International Education Day celebration. The event was held at the Government Lodge, Ningi.

The Speaker emphasized the lawmakers’ dedication to reviving the state’s education sector through policies and legislation that align with the government’s developmental agenda. He noted that their efforts are focused on restoring the lost glory of education in Bauchi State.

Expressing satisfaction with the educational policies of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Suleiman commended the administration for its strides in reducing the number of out-of-school children. He also called on traditional rulers to support enrollment campaigns by collaborating with relevant authorities to eliminate the menace.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Jamilu Dahiru, assured stakeholders of the government’s continued prioritization of education in the annual budget. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to investing in education and supporting initiatives that promote academic excellence. The governor further urged stakeholders in the education sector to leverage the benefits of the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.

The Chairman of Ningi Local Government Area, Nasiru Zakarai Dankasuwa, lauded the Nabalango Foundation for its efforts in promoting education in the region.

As part of the celebration, students from selected schools participated in a quiz and debate competition. Additionally, the foundation distributed school bags, textbooks, exercise books, and other writing materials to 1,000 students.

The event underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing educational challenges and improving learning outcomes in Bauchi State.
