Students’ Movement Calls on Hon. Adamu Babayo Gabarin to Join 2027 Governorship Race in Bauchi

By Fatima Jamil Ahmad

The Gabarin Students Movement 2027 has urged Honourable Adamu Babayo Gabarin to contest the governorship seat of Bauchi State in the 2027 general elections, describing him as a servant-leader whose experience, integrity, and vision make him the right candidate to steer the state towards greater progress.

At a press conference in Bauchi, the group’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ahamad Dahiru, read a statement calling the occasion “a historic moment in the journey of Bauchi State,” stressing that the time had come for Gabarin to step forward and answer the call of the people.

Dahiru highlighted Gabarin’s long record of service to the state in various public offices, noting that his leadership style had always been people-centered and solution-driven.

“Honourable Adamu Babayo Gabarin is not a stranger to the challenges of our people. He was born and raised in Bauchi, walked the same paths as our farmers, traders, civil servants, and students, and has consistently worked to improve their conditions. He stands today as a symbol of humility, hard work, and compassion,” Dahiru said.

The group listed his achievements in multiple roles:

Commissioner of Lands and Survey – reformed land administration by promoting fair access to land, reducing disputes, and creating systems that encouraged infrastructural growth and orderly urban planning.

Commissioner of Information – strengthened communication between government and citizens, enhanced transparency, and provided platforms for the people of Bauchi to engage in governance.

Senior Special Adviser on Health – helped improve primary healthcare delivery, expanded medical facilities in rural areas, and laid foundations for improved public health.

Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Bauchi – displayed political wisdom in unifying the party, defending democracy, and mobilizing grassroots support.

Commissioner of Youth and Sports – invested in youth development by creating skills programs, initiating sporting projects that fostered unity, and discovering talents who went on to bring pride to the state.

“These are not abstract achievements,” Dahiru emphasized. “They are legacies that touched the lives of ordinary citizens – from the farmer in Dass who gained access to land, to the rural mother whose child now receives healthcare, to the young athlete whose talent was nurtured through sports initiatives.”

The Gabarin Students Movement said Bauchi State is facing critical challenges in the areas of unemployment, insecurity, inadequate infrastructure, struggling healthcare, and underfunded education, but also noted that the state is blessed with enormous opportunities in agriculture, human capital, and its strategic location.

“2027 will mark a turning point for Bauchi. We need a leader who combines competence with compassion and vision with integrity. Honourable Adamu Babayo Gabarin embodies all these qualities,” the students declared.

If elected governor, they said Gabarin’s priorities would focus on:

Education – ensuring every child, in both rural and urban areas, has access to quality schools and opportunities to prepare for the future.

Agriculture – modernizing farming practices, supporting farmers with resources, and transforming agriculture into a driver of food security and wealth creation.

Healthcare – expanding facilities, improving services, and guaranteeing access to life-saving care for all citizens.

Youth Empowerment and Job Creation – providing training, entrepreneurship support, and employment opportunities to harness the creativity of Bauchi youths.

Security – working with communities and agencies to ensure peace and safety across the state.

Infrastructure – investing in roads, electricity, water supply, and housing to connect communities and open doors to development.

Concluding the press briefing, Comrade Dahiru declared:

“This call is not about politics for its own sake, but about the destiny of Bauchi State. Honourable Adamu Babayo Gabarin, the people are calling you. Bauchi needs you. It is time to rise to this responsibility and contest the governorship election in 2027.”

The students pledged their unity, loyalty, and full support to his aspiration, expressing optimism that with Gabarin’s leadership and divine guidance, Bauchi would achieve new heights of peace, prosperity, and good governance.
