In a significant boost to healthcare services, the Bauchi Branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), through its Alms Committee, has donated critical hospital equipment and constructed a Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment (DOT) center valued at over four million Naira. The intervention, part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility, benefits communities in Buzaye, Ganjuwa, and Dawaki ward of Bauchi Local Government Area.
According to Aminu Ibrahim Tsoho, the community head of Ganjuwa area, the new facility was completed in a short time, to the community’s great appreciation. “The CBN staff has built this facility for us, and we appreciate it,” Tsoho said. He assured that the community would take proper care of the center, adding, “The residents are working tirelessly to ensure the facility remains in good condition, just as they maintain the hospital.”
Tsoho urged the healthcare staff to carry out their duties diligently for the benefit of the community. “I call on the management and staff of this facility to discharge their duties responsibly,” he added.
Bashir Shehu Nababa, officer in charge of the Primary Healthcare Centre Ganjuwa, expressed gratitude for the intervention. He assured both the community and the CBN of the center’s upkeep, highlighting the dedication of his team. “We are happy to be among the beneficiaries, and we will take good care of this building,” Nababa said.
Meanwhile, Hauwa Yohanna Adamu, officer in charge of Urban Maternity Kofar Ran, noted the essential role the new equipment will play. “These items are very important to our work, and we were in dire need of them. We are very grateful,” Adamu stated.
Ahmad Umar, head of banking services at the CBN Bauchi branch, emphasized the bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. He explained that the bank’s intervention projects are adapted each year to address community needs. “Corporate social responsibility is an established practice across the corporate world. This year, our focus is on health,” Umar said.
He recalled that previous interventions included the construction of boreholes for water supply and the provision of classroom furniture. “Our hope is that communities will utilize these resources judiciously for long-term benefit,” he added.
With its latest intervention, CBN Bauchi has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the well-being of residents through improved healthcare infrastructure and resources.
