Bauchi Government Approves Establishment of Bauchi-Mingsheng Group Company to Boost Economic Growth

January 25, 2025 2 minutes read

By Muhammad Sani Muazu

The Bauchi State Government has approved the establishment of the Bauchi-Mingsheng Group Company (BM-Group), a joint venture aimed at creating jobs, boosting internally generated revenue (IGR), and fostering economic development.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Hon. Mohammed Maiwada Bello, during a press briefing held shortly after the State Executive Council meeting on January 23, 2025, at the Government House, Bauchi. According to Bello, the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to transforming Bauchi into a thriving hub for investment and business activities.

Hon. Bello highlighted that the project stemmed from the 2023 visit of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to Shandong Province, China, where several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with Chinese investors. Following subsequent visits by Mingsheng officials and technical experts, the company was established to spearhead mining and exploration activities in Toro and Dass Local Government Areas, focusing on valuable resources such as tin, columbite, zircon, and other rare earth elements.

He described the Bauchi-Mingsheng partnership as a milestone in the government’s efforts to foster public-private partnerships and diversify the state’s economy. “This company is expected to drive innovation, attract investment, and improve living standards for the people of Bauchi State,” he stated.

The commissioner further emphasized the potential industrial growth the venture could bring, particularly for local industries dependent on raw materials like tin and ilmenite, which are vital to technology and construction industries. Additionally, he noted that mining projects would enhance infrastructure in host communities, including improved roads and other amenities.

Hon. Bello assured stakeholders that his ministry would remain dedicated to generating revenue and supporting economic growth. He expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering support and approval of the Bauchi-Mingsheng project.

The establishment of BM-Group signifies a significant step toward harnessing Bauchi’s natural resources for sustainable development and economic prosperity.
