The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspected thugs in connection with a violent attack that led to the death of one person and injuries to several others in the Kofar Dawaki area of the state capital.
The incident, which occurred on November 8, 2025, at about 10:50 p.m., followed a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer of C Division, CSP Abubakar N. Pindiga. According to the Command, a group of suspected thugs from the Anguwan Makafi area invaded Unguwan Dawaki armed with dangerous weapons, including machetes, and attacked residents.
Police spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the attackers—identified by nicknames such as Maikare, Bigi, Sadiyo, Al-Amin Bolatu, Baba Budi, Boda, Ishe, Suleja, and Ada’u (Adahama)—initially inflicted serious injuries on one Abba, also known as “Hitler,” said to be a neighbour of their original target.
When police operatives arrived at the scene, they discovered that some of the suspects had been subjected to mob action by members of the community. One of them, Bello Al-Amin Waziri, popularly known as “Al-Amin Koyi,” was found unconscious and later confirmed dead at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.
Further investigation led to the arrest of three suspects:
Sadiq Aliyu Abdullahi (a.k.a. Nahau), 21,
Aliyu Abubakar (a.k.a. Bigi), 23, and
Umar Salisu (a.k.a. Sarka), 23, all from Anguwan Makafi.
Two machetes used during the attack were recovered as exhibits.
Preliminary findings revealed that the violence stemmed from a feud between youths from Unguwan Makafi and Unguwan Dawaki. The suspects reportedly launched a retaliatory attack, during which Abba “Hitler” was injured. The following day, the group allegedly returned and attacked their initial target, Al-Amin Koyi, stabbing him to death. During the confrontation, his friend, Sadiq Abdullahi (Nahau), who attempted to rescue him, had three fingers severed.
The Police Commissioner, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the increasing cases of youth restiveness, thuggery, and jungle justice in the state. He warned that mob action and armed violence remain serious criminal offences punishable under Nigerian law.
The Commissioner has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation and prosecution. He assured residents that all perpetrators— including those still at large—will be apprehended and brought to justice.
The Command appealed to members of the public to report incidents promptly and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
