The Al-Muhibbah Foundation has launched a community empowerment and medical outreach programme in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State aimed at promoting education, healthcare, women empowerment and access to clean water in rural communities.

The programme, featured the commissioning of boreholes, flag-off of a new set of learners under the “Not Too Late to Learn” adult literacy programme, women and youth empowerment initiatives as well as WASH awareness campaigns in Jojotau, Karfin Raddi, Dandinga and Kumbi communities of Badara district.

Speaking during the event, the Wife of the Bauchi State Governor and founder of Al-Muhibbah Foundation, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, stressed the importance of education in community development, urging parents to support their children, especially girls, to acquire both Islamic and western education.

She said education remained the foundation for societal growth, noting that communities could only attain meaningful development when their people become educated and contribute to solving local challenges.

Hajiya Aishatu Bala Mohammed also emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence, describing peace as essential for development and progress. She called on traditional rulers and parents to take responsibility for the welfare and education of their families, reminding them that they would be accountable before God.

According to her, the foundation had enrolled about 200 women into the adult literacy programme where they would receive lessons in both religious and western education to enable them educate their children and contribute positively to society.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed to their studies, expressing optimism that some of them would later become teachers engaged to educate other children within their communities.

Earlier, the Programme Manager of Al-Muhibbah Foundation, Ali Duguri, said the foundation was implementing the projects through donations and support from philanthropists and partners committed to assisting the less privileged.

He explained that the foundation, established in 2010, was designed to continue serving communities beyond government tenure, adding that the intervention included economic empowerment support for 200 women, provision of boreholes, teaching and learning materials, and adult education classes in partnership with the Bauchi State Agency for Mass Education.

Ali Duguri noted that many of the women enrolled initially lacked basic literacy skills, while some faced social and marital challenges, but said the literacy and social support programmes had already begun transforming their lives positively.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Kirfi Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, commended the Bauchi State First Lady for her continued support to rural communities through empowerment initiatives, educational assistance, healthcare interventions and peace-building programmes.
