The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, has warned community leaders in Bauchi and Gombe States against harbouring criminal elements, stressing that anyone found aiding criminals would face severe punishment.
Olaniyan gave the warning on Thursday while addressing journalists shortly after the inauguration of the newly elected executives of PCRC Zone 12 and a security seminar held at the Command Guest House, Bauchi.
He urged the newly inaugurated executives to live up to expectations, noting that the era of criminal activities in the zone was gradually coming to an end due to the close collaboration between the PCRC, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 12, and other security stakeholders at the community level.
Speaking at the event, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 12, Vungmoh S. M. Kwaimo, said the police could not detach themselves from the people, emphasizing the need for stronger community participation in policing.
