Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has commended Islamic scholars in the state for their contributions to education, peace, and social harmony.

The governor made the remarks on Friday during an Iftar (breaking of the Ramadan fast) with Islamic scholars drawn from various parts of the state, held at the Government House in Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed described the role of religious leaders as central to moral upbringing and peaceful coexistence, noting that his administration places high value on their guidance and support in governance. He announced that the Bauchi State Government would soon commence the payment of allowances to Islamic scholars as part of efforts to support and motivate them in carrying out their religious and community responsibilities.

He further urged the scholars to continue preaching tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, stressing that sustained peace remains critical to the state’s development. The governor also assured the clerics of his administration’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with religious leaders in addressing social challenges and advancing community development initiatives.

In separate remarks, the Islamic scholars expressed appreciation to the governor for the gesture, offering prayers for continued peace and progress in Bauchi State, while reaffirming their commitment to supporting government policies through guidance and moral instruction.
