Governor Bala Mohammed Urges Prayer for Godly Leadership at Nigeria Prays Rally in Bauchi

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has called on residents to remain committed to seeking God’s intervention through prayer for the emergence of credible leaders who will ensure good governance in Nigeria.

Governor Mohammed made the call on Sunday during a one-day National Prayer Rally held at COCIN Church Kagadama. The rally was organised by the North East Zone of Nigeria Prays with the theme, “Awake, Awake, O Army of the Lord”, anchored on Isaiah 51:9.

The Governor, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Christian Affairs, Pastor (Dr) Luka Zakka Magaji, said prayer remains a vital tool for national transformation and leadership renewal in Nigeria.

He urged citizens to remain steadfast in interceding for the nation, stressing that God-fearing leaders are essential to achieving peace, unity, and sustainable development.

Governor Mohammed also commended the founder of Nigeria Prays, Yakubu Gowon, for his dedication and consistency in promoting prayer for national unity and peaceful coexistence over the past three decades.

He noted that the former Head of State had demonstrated uncommon commitment by travelling across the country to mobilise Christians to pray for Nigeria’s progress and stability.

In his remarks, General Gowon, who was represented by the National Secretary of the group, Evangelist Austin R. Kemie, said the primary objective of Nigeria Prays is to keep the country united through prayers and by seeking divine guidance in addressing national challenges.

He emphasised that fervent prayers are particularly necessary in the North-East region, which has experienced insurgency, destruction of places of worship, and displacement of communities.

Gowon further stressed that spiritual unity among Nigerians would contribute significantly to national healing and restoration, especially in areas affected by conflict and insecurity.

Speaking to Albarka Radio 97.5 FM Bauchi, the State Coordinator of Nigeria Prays, Samaila Boro, expressed joy over the large turnout recorded at the rally.

He described the attendance as evidence of the commitment, dedication, and readiness of Christians in the region to support spiritual initiatives aimed at fostering peace and unity.

The prayer sessions focused on national leaders, regional healing, and community resilience, while various choirs presented songs of thanksgiving that inspired hope among participants despite prevailing economic and security challenges.

The rally brought together Christians from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe States, as well as leaders of the Nigeria Prays movement, in a collective effort to seek divine intervention for Nigeria’s peace and progress.
