Over 6.000 youths and women have So far benefited from the Kaura Empowerment program (KEEP) in the year 2021 in eight local government areas of the state.
Our Government House correspondent who packages the end of year review report of governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has more details.
The intervention program is an initiative of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed effort aimed at Empowering women and youths with incentives, starter packs that will alleviate poverty and provide them with job opportunities in the state.
The program which was flagged off in Zaki and Gamawa Local government has Soo far covered 8 local governments areas.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who is committed to improving the economy and well-being of the people of the state assured that the program will be sustained to cover the whole state.
The beneficiaries were empowered with cash, motorcycles, grinding and sewing machines, shoe making kits among other things to enable them to start business immediately.
Also in the year under review, governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed flagged off the construction of 25 km Itas to Gadau and 12 kilometre Masaru and Arinja Balma road.
The Flagg of performed by Oyo state governor Seyi Makinde will boost the socio-economic development of the area.
Similarly, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi performed another groundbreaking ceremony where Arinja-Balma & Nasaru Bala Mohammed township road projects covering about 15km were awarded.
The groundbreaking of these roads, brings the number of roads to more than 30 initiated by the governor Bala Mohammed administration.
In April 2021, Governor Bala Mohammed invited former president Good luck Jonathan to commission the 6 kilometer Sabon Kaura to Miri road while in November 2021 Former Vice president Atiku Abubakar commissioned the Gombe road to Maiduguri by-pass.
In the education Sector, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed flagged off the distribution of materials to BESDA Learning Centres (UBEC Instructional materials) as well as the commissioning of the 2019 UBEC/SUBEB Intervention Project.
Mohammed also said the work done involved the construction and renovation of 864 blocks of classrooms which translated into 2,413 classes across the 20 local government areas of the state.
In the year 2021, the construction and renovation of health facilities continued across the state as well as payment of counterpart funds.
The governor also in the year under review met with development partners, non Governmental Organizations and investors.
