Bauchi Cleric Laments Dearth Of Islamic Schools

A renowned Islamic scholar in Bauchi Dr Usman Ibrahim Giade has lamented backwardness in Islamic knowledge in the state.

Dr. Giade who is the chief Imam of Umar Bn Abdulaziz Jumu’at mosque GRA Bauchi called on Muslims to struggle for knowledge as the importance of seeking both Islamic and western knowledge cannot be overemphasized.

The Imam stated this when he served as a guest speaker at the 11th graduation ceremony of Shehu Awak Memorial School for Qur’anic Memorization and Islamic Tahzeeb G.R.A Bauchi.

Dr. Usman Ibrahim Giade called on teachers of the school to be more dedicated to their duties and to also do it for the sake of Allah in order to reap the dividends of their work in the hereafter.

Earlier speaking the proprietor of the school Malam Zakariyya Hassan Galadima said the school was established in the year 1991 and graduated over 900 students in the span of 31 years.

He said presently the school has 4 sections and 32 staff with over 400 students, with 24 of them graduating from the Islamiyya section this year.

While commending the initiator of the school Hajiya Aishatu Bint Musa for her foresight, Zakariyya Galadima also prayed for Allah to reward late Ambassador Shehu Awak with Jannatul Firdausi for the enormous support he has rendered to the school.

Some of the graduands interviewed by Albarka Radio expressed their delight for witnessing this historic day and thanked their teachers for their sacrifices.

Highlights of the event were a recitation of the Qur’an and presentations in Arabic language as well as gifts presentation to the best students.
