The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Mohammed, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable households, as she flagged off the distribution of food items and Ramadan palliatives at the International Conference Center, Bauchi.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady, described the initiative as a humanitarian intervention aimed at providing relief, restoring dignity, and strengthening hope among families facing economic hardship. She noted that the programme was organised under the Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) and the Bauchi State Government.
According to her, the intervention will see the distribution of 2,400 bags of 25kg rice, 300 cartons of cooking oil, and 500 bags of sugar, while an additional 1,200 cartons of spaghetti are expected to be distributed upon arrival. She stressed that the items represent more than figures, but rather meals for families, relief for struggling mothers, and reassurance for widows and vulnerable citizens that they are not forgotten.
In addition, the Bauchi State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, flagged off the distribution of Ramadan palliatives. The items include 250 bags of rice, 500 bags of maize, 50 bags of guinea corn, 50 bags of millet, and 10 bags of sugar to support households during the holy month of Ramadan.
The First Lady explained that the intervention reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to reducing hardship and ensuring that vulnerable groups observe the fasting period with dignity and peace of mind.
She commended the Renewed Hope Initiative for its dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly women and vulnerable groups, and also lauded the North East Development Commission for its continued efforts in rebuilding and strengthening communities across the North-East region.
Aishatu Bala Mohammed urged beneficiaries to receive the support with hope and confidence, assuring them that the government remains committed to inclusive development and ensuring that no one is left behind.
The event attracted government officials, community leaders, women groups, and other stakeholders across the state.
