Bauchi PDP Stalwart Drums Support For Bala Mohammed’s Security Strategy

Following the growing incidences of kidnappings being recorded in Bauchi, Alhaji Babangida Ahmed, a chieftain of the PDP, has asked traditional rulers to support the security strategies Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed deploy to secure the lives and property of citizens of the state.

He said traditional rulers being the custodians of the rich cultural heritage of the people must be prompt and passionate at resolving all spotted or noticed security susceptible moves in their communities.

Alhaji Babangida, who was a former PDP Youth Leader in Bauchi Central, said this in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi.

He said they must be seen to be supporting the security strategy that Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s administration deploy to tackle the growing incidences of insecurity being recorded in some parts of the state.

He said as active security stakeholders, the traditional rulers must be up and doing in the same direction as the state security operatives on the road map of the state government to allow for meaningful gains to be made in the painstaking chore of maintaining peace and stability in Bauch State as the state is known for peace despite being in the northeast.

To him, the traditional rulers are cooperative with the government policies and programmes, adding that the present government will continue to initiate policies aimed at securing the lives of the citizens.

“The traditional rulers are instrumental in the peace and security of the people. The district and ward heads are the first step as they need to liaise with their local governments’ chairmen by encouraging their subjects to report any element to security agencies for prompt action”.

“They should also encourage landlords and estate agents within their domains not to be renting or selling houses to unknown people, this will help in not harboring criminals in their domains as it is witnessed in other states as kidnappers and bandits are habited by the people”, he said.

Alhaji Babangida called on Imams and Pastors in the state to continue preaching to their followers on the need to live in peace with one another considering the recent happenings in both states and that the general elections are fast approaching, saying election times for days but the lives of the people matter a lot.
