In a bid to ensure that ongoing projects in the state meet the required standards, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Honourable Muhammad Maiwada Bello, has conducted an inspection of project sites in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The commissioner, who was accompanied by top government officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Muhammad Maijama’a Dewu, and the Rector of Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, Dr. Ahmed Suleiman, visited the Kaura Mineral Processing and Buying Center and the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy permanent site.
During the inspection, Commissioner Bello emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality infrastructure that meets the needs of the people.
He warned contractors against substandard work and urged strict compliance with approved specifications.
“We are committed to ensuring that every project undertaken by this administration benefits our people and stands the test of time. There will be no compromise on quality,” the commissioner stated.
The inspection covered key projects, including the minerals processing block, administration office, and mosque at the Kaura Mineral Processing and Buying Center, which are currently at the foundation stages. The Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy projects, including the administration block, library, and workshop, are at the excavation stages.
Commissioner Bello assured the public that regular monitoring would continue to guarantee transparency and accountability in project execution. He also announced plans for surprise inspections to encourage contractors.
“We will continue to monitor these projects closely to ensure that they are completed on time and to the required standards. We will also conduct surprise inspections to ensure that contractors are doing their job properly,” the commissioner said.
The project engineers, Ibrahim Marafa and Muhammad Muhammad, assured the commissioner that they would abide by the project specifications and timelines.
“We are committed to delivering these projects on time and to the required standards. We will work closely with the ministry to ensure that all specifications are met,” Marafa said.
Residents and stakeholders who were present during the inspection exercise expressed their appreciation for the government’s oversight efforts and urged for timely completion of the projects.
“We are grateful to the commissioner and his team for coming to inspect these projects. We urge them to ensure that the projects are completed on time so that we can benefit from them,” said Mallam Yahaya, a resident of Alkaleri.
The commissioner’s inspection tour is a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in project execution.
