The Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP) is currently holding its 50th Annual Conference at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), bringing together experts, researchers, and stakeholders in the field of animal agriculture. The milestone event, themed “Exploring Transformations in Animal Agriculture for Food Security, Wealth Creation, and Economic Growth,” underscores the society’s commitment to advancing sustainable and innovative animal production practices in Nigeria.
As part of the goodwill messages at the conference, the President of the Animal Welfare Society of Nigeria (AWSON), Professor Mohammed Sanusi, congratulated NSAP on its 50th anniversary and commended its dedication to improving animal agriculture.
In his message, Professor Sanusi emphasized the importance of integrating animal welfare into production systems, highlighting its role in ensuring food security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
“AWSON deeply appreciates NSAP’s efforts to promote sustainable animal production practices that prioritize animal well-being. This conference presents an invaluable platform for knowledge-sharing, innovation, and collaboration among stakeholders in the field,” he stated.
He further stressed that as animal agriculture continues to play a crucial role in national development, stakeholders must adopt humane and environmentally responsible production methods.
He called for stronger collaborations between the government and industry players to enforce laws and policies, including the amended Animal Diseases (Control) Act 2022, to safeguard animal welfare in Nigeria.
Professor Sanusi also lauded the NSAP leadership and its members for their tireless contributions to the sector, expressing confidence that the conference would yield impactful discussions and practical solutions for the advancement of animal production and welfare in the country.
The NSAP 50th Annual Conference is expected to feature high-level discussions, technical sessions, and exhibitions showcasing the latest advancements in animal agriculture.
