Buba Umar Buys APC Governorship Form, Distributes 188 Motorcycles to Supporters

A senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba Umar, has purchased the governorship nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development follows his recent declaration of interest to contest for the governorship seat, placing him among the early aspirants within the party.

Political observers say the early move could give the lawmaker a strategic advantage in mobilising party delegates, forging alliances, and building momentum ahead of the APC primaries.

Buba Umar’s rising profile within the APC has been linked to his legislative contributions and sustained grassroots engagement through constituency projects and empowerment initiatives across Bauchi South.

Speaking after purchasing the nomination form, the senator expressed confidence in his ambition.

“I am fully confident that I can provide good governance, stimulate economic growth, and ensure sustainable development for the people of Bauchi State if given the opportunity,” he said.

He also called for support from party members and stakeholders.

“I urge party members and all stakeholders to support my aspiration so that we can achieve inclusive leadership and people-oriented policies,” he added.

Meanwhile, the senator has fulfilled a key campaign promise by distributing 188 brand new motorcycles to APC delegates who supported his emergence during the party’s primary election held on May 30, 2022.

The distribution, which took place across the Bauchi South Senatorial District, was aimed at appreciating loyal party members and promoting economic empowerment among beneficiaries.

Addressing beneficiaries at the event, Buba Umar described the gesture as a reward for loyalty and a means of strengthening party cohesion.

“This support is a reward for your loyalty and the confidence you have shown in me. It is also a way to further strengthen our relationship and the unity of our party,” he said.

He reiterated his commitment to continued engagement with stakeholders.

“I will continue to engage and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure effective representation at all levels,” the senator stated.

Analysts note that fulfilling such promises could enhance trust, strengthen party unity, and boost the credibility of both the senator and the APC in Bauchi State as the 2027 elections approach.

They also point out that early declaration and consistent delivery on commitments may play a decisive role in shaping the political landscape in the state, with more aspirants expected to join the race in the coming months.
