As part of ongoing efforts to track progress and strengthen accountability, a delegation from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implementing partners visited Darazo, one of the key implementing Local Government Areas in Bauchi State to assess project impact and engage local stakeholders.
The visit formed part of a monitoring tour designed to evaluate how funded interventions are improving the lives of women, children, and vulnerable communities.
Leading the delegation on a courtesy visit to Emir of Darazo and engage with the Mama to Mama agent, the Head of Development Cooperation at the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria Mr Arash Irantalab, reiterated Canada’s commitment to supporting poverty reduction, health systems strengthening, human development, and climate resilience.
Arash Irantalab emphasized that Bauchi State remains central to Canada’s Africa Strategy, with significant funding directed toward impactful programs in the state.
On her part, the Chief of UNICEF Bauchi field office Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, noted that empowering adolescents, young women, girls, and boys remains central to the interventions.
She emphasized that collaboration with local government authorities and traditional leaders is essential for achieving lasting impact.
Receiving the delegation in his palace, the Emir of Darazo, Alh Ibrahim Muhammad Bababa, expressed appreciation for selecting Darazo as one of the implementing LGAs in the state.
He commended the visible improvements in the health sector and other community-based interventions within his domain, assuring the delegation of continued traditional support and community mobilization to guarantee the success of the programmes.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Darazo LGA, Sama’ila Ya’u Sade, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting program implementation and ensuring sustainability.
The delegation also visited the District Head of Konkiyal and engage with Father’s for good health were they assured their commitment to partnership, and community-driven development, revealing that such investments translate into real improvements in health, education, and economic opportunities for the people of Darazo.
