Journalists for Public Health and Development (J4PD), a non-governmental organization, has commenced a two-day workshop aimed at developing a strategic plan to guide its operations and ensure effective preparation for activities that benefit society.
Speaking during the workshop, J4PD member Elizabeth Car explained that the strategic plan would serve as a roadmap for the organization, helping it define its future goals, core values, mission, and vision. She noted that J4PD, which began four years ago as a group of journalists focused on health reporting, has since evolved into a registered organization under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with a broader focus on raising public awareness about preventive health measures.
Organizational Development Consultant Kamal Ali Bello underscored the importance of strategic planning for any serious organization. He stated that the plan would incorporate input from both internal and external stakeholders and, upon completion, provide an actionable roadmap to address health and educational challenges in the state over the next two to three years.
Mainas Ayuba, a J4PD partner and Acting Chairman of the Bauchi State Disability Network Forum, highlighted the need for effective implementation of the strategic plan. He stressed the importance of including people living with disabilities in accessing vital information, noting that individuals with hearing and visual impairments are often excluded.
The workshop, attended by representatives from civil society organizations and people with disabilities, aims to ensure inclusivity in J4PD’s future activities.
Albarka Radio correspondent Aminu Harsanu Guyaba reports that the event will conclude with the finalization of the strategic plan, marking a significant milestone in J4PD’s efforts to address societal challenges.
