The Executive Director of Youth Building Skills for Brighter Future Initiative, Mrs. Jamila Daniel Rabo, has emphasized the importance of project management as a life-changing skill for young people and professionals.
Speaking in an interview, she explained that project management is not just about handling large-scale projects, but about acquiring the ability to use skills to properly execute tasks and achieve visible results within a set period of time.
Mrs. Rabo clarified that project management is not restricted to individuals with formal educational backgrounds.
According to her, anyone—whether a student, businessperson, civil servant, or even a community volunteer—can apply project management principles to navigate their daily activities and ensure success.
She stressed that what matters most is having an objective to achieve, and then using the right skills to reach that goal.
On the scope of participation, the Executive Director explained that the project is open to all age groups, without any restriction.
She said the certification program was developed in partnership with the Center for Project Innovation, which has given them the opportunity to enroll as many interested participants as possible.
However, for effectiveness, the enrollment will be carried out in manageable batches.
Mrs. Rabo revealed that the program will begin with 20 participants in the first batch. Once they complete their training and certification, another group will be enrolled, and this will continue in sets until as many people as possible are trained.
She noted that this gradual approach will make the process effective and sustainable.
Sharing her personal experience, the Director described herself as a student of project management.
She explained how learning the discipline has changed her orientation, improved the way she carries out her projects, and transformed her approach to work in general. This, she said, motivated her to create opportunities for others to gain the same skills.
Mrs. Rabo encouraged Nigerians from all walks of life to embrace the opportunity. She noted that whether one is running a business, studying in school, working in an office, or operating an NGO, project management skills will enhance efficiency, boost productivity, and transform lives.
