NOA Commends EFCC Over Cybercrime Crackdown

August 25, 2025 2 minutes read

By Ude Ogbonnaya Israel

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its recent successful operation in dismantling a sophisticated cybercrime syndicate operating in the country.

According to NOA, the feat sends a strong signal that Nigeria will not tolerate any form of criminality, regardless of the nationality of the perpetrators.

In a statement signed by the Director of Communication and Media, Bala Musa, the Agency noted that Nigeria, as a sovereign nation committed to ethical standards and the rule of law, must safeguard its integrity and reputation in the global community.

Musa explained that while NOA continues to promote ethical conduct and responsible citizenship through the National Value Charter and various public sensitization campaigns, it is important for both Nigerians and non-Nigerians to respect the country’s laws and desist from actions that undermine national security and moral values.

“Cyber criminals, whether foreign nationals or citizens, must realise that our enforcement agencies are vigilant, equipped, and resolute in bringing perpetrators to justice. Nigeria will not be a haven or dumping ground for criminal enterprises,” the statement read.

He further called on stakeholders—including community leaders, traditional institutions, educational institutions, civil society, and the media—to reinforce values of integrity, patriotism, and civic responsibility at all levels, stressing the need for collective accountability in nation-building.

“We commend the EFCC for demonstrating decisive leadership in this regard. This is how nations are built—through firm adherence to the rule of law,” Musa added.
