The Peopleâs Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi South Senatorial District has organised a special program aimed at enlightening women on their rights, roles, and responsibilities in the political arena.
The event, held under the leadership of the Deputy State Women Leader and the Zonal Women Leader of Bauchi South, brought together women leaders from across the local government areas, female appointees, legislatorsâ wives, former women leaders, party officials, security personnel, and members of the media.
Speaking at the gathering, Hajiya Hadiza Muhammad, popularly known as Maman P.A and Chairperson of Bauchi Local Government Women Leaders, underscored the need for women to take leadership seriously and view themselves as role models in society.
She noted that the program was not merely a formality but a platform for dialogue, self-assessment, and collective strategizing towards the future of the PDP and womenâs participation in politics.
âWe must understand that as women leaders, we are not here for ourselves alone but to learn what benefits our communities and to pass it on. Leadership requires listening, patience, and accountability. When we return home, people will ask us what we gained, so we must pay attention and be ready to guide others,â she stated.
Hajiya Hadiza further urged women to start leadership from their homes by mentoring their children, neighbors, and communities, adding that womenâs political strength will play a vital role in shaping the 2027 general elections.
The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who also addressed the gathering, called on women to embrace sincerity, responsibility, and the fear of God in leadership. She emphasized that true leadership goes beyond handouts, stressing that empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and clean water are the core needs of the people.
âLeadership is not just about distributing money or food items. It is about setting good examples, listening to the people, and ensuring the delivery of social services. As women leaders, you must begin by changing your mindset and demonstrating integrity, because real change can only start with us,â the First Lady declared.
She reminded the participants that the Bauchi State Government, under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has consistently prioritized womenâs empowerment since 2019 and urged women to continue mobilizing at the ward and local government levels to strengthen the PDP ahead of future elections.
The program concluded with a renewed call for unity among women leaders, prayers for Nigeriaâs progress, and a commitment to intensify grassroots political awareness across Bauchi South Senatorial District.
