Youths in Northern Nigeria have been urged to draw inspiration from the life, academic excellence and socioeconomic struggles of the late Professor Jibril Aminu, as a way of building a more progressive and enlightened society.
The call was made at a special session organized by the Jibril Aminu Old Students Association in honour of the renowned academician, nationalist and former Senator representing Adamawa State.
Speaking during the session, a Nationalist and Public Affairs Commentator, Comrade Sabo Muhammad, challenged young people to emulate Professor Aminu’s commitment to education, discipline and public service.
He described the late scholar as a rare intellectual whose life was marked by perseverance, integrity and a deep passion for national development, urging youths to look beyond material pursuits and invest in knowledge and character.
Comrade Sabo Muhammad noted that Professor Jibril Aminu’s journey was not without challenges, but his determination enabled him to rise to prominence in academia and public life.
According to him, the late professor’s contributions to education and governance remain a reference point for generations, stressing that today’s youths can overcome socioeconomic obstacles through hard work, focus and dedication.
In his address, the Chairman of the Jibril Aminu Old Students Association, Tahir Muhammad Disina, expressed concern that many students are not fully aware of the immense contributions of Professor Jibril Aminu, despite attending an institution named after him.
He emphasized the need to continually enlighten students about the values, achievements and legacy of the elder statesman to encourage them to uphold excellence.
Tahir Muhammad Disina also commended the former Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Ahmadu Mu’azu, for immortalizing the late Professor Jibril Aminu by naming an institution after him while he was still alive.
He described the gesture as a recognition of selfless service and outstanding contributions to education and national development, urging authorities and stakeholders to continue preserving the legacies of distinguished leaders for future generations.
