Umahi won’t compromise standard service delivery – Dr Sade

By Umar Sani

A seasoned media Consultant and a Public Affairs analyst in Bauchi, Abdulrahman Sade, has expressed confidence in Minister of Works David Umahi.

While absolving him of an alleged award of a section of an Abuja-Kaduna road to a non-existence-firm, Sade said the allegations are mischievous and self-centered, intending to avoid distracting the attention of the minister.

Sade said this Sunday while speaking to journalists in Bauchi.

He added that the Minister, being an engineer and selfless politician, having served as two-term governor in Ebonyi state two-term elected as a senator before his appointment by President Bola Tinubu to serve as a minister, would never engage in a shady contract.

He maintained that Umahi is the only minister who plies all abandoned and dilapidated roads by car to see for himself the situation at hand.

Sade, who is also a politician in Bauchi, said: “I have known Umahi for a couple of years back; his records are there for anyone to see. Umahi is one of the most performing ministers in this administration.

“This I will say with all sense of honesty and without fear of contradiction.

“His taste for quality work has earned him accolades from different parts of the country.

“Take for instance, the flood that disconnected some part of the federal roads. One can imagine his swift intervention and timely delivery.

“On the Abuja-Kaduna road, it was reported in the media that he awarded the section of the road to non-existence company. It turned out to be inaccurate, the name of the company handling the project is different from what was reported in the media to have been inactive, although sound similar,” he said.

Sade added that the last administration left over 2,600 federal roads which Umahi had taken upon himself to fix if the government was ready to fund it with over N19 trillion.

“He has been an advocate of concrete roads in Nigeria instead of asphalt to save cost. He came out to say that, see, we need to go for concrete roads, the government will save N640bn by constructing Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road.”

“When he was responding to the media report on the Abuja-Kaduna road contract, he made it clear during a press conference that the Ministry has no business relationship with Infoquest Nigeria Ltd, the firm they claimed was handling the road. The actual company working on the project is Infiouest International Limited, which is in compliance with all legal requirements and regulations of the Company and Allied Matters Act,” he said.

Sade implored all and sundry, especially the media and groups, to give Umahi the support and prayers for the betterment of our country.
