The World Health Organisation, WHO has donated Cholera testing kits and other laboratory equipment to the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
The donation is part of WHO’s commitment to fighting Cholera outbreaks and other infectious diseases in the state.
Dr Mahmoud Saidu, Bauchi State Coordinator of WHO, said the Organisation is concerned about the incessant Cholera outbreaks in Bauchi State, adding that it become imperative for the global health body to strengthen health institutions in order to respond effectively to all emerging diseases.
The Coordinator said the intervention is to support preparedness towards early detection, case identification in such a way it can trigger prompt responses.
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, Executive Chairman Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, said the donation is a symbolic demonstration of WHO’s determination to assist the state to eradicate Chokera, thus it brings positive responses as per as control of diseases.
Albarka Radio recalls that WHO has donated about 1.5 million doses of Oral Cholera Vaccines (OCV) to Bauchi State in 2021 for mass vaccination campaigns in the most endemic zones of the state.
